Living between art and multiple sclerosis
Trusting the Process, Trusting Myself
The creation of The Color of Her Bold Soul began with a quiet, courageous act: trusting. Not only in the artistic process but also in everything I’ve become as a woman who has walked through seasons of change, challenge, and rediscovery. This piece tells a story that goes far beyond the canvas.
It portrays a plus-size woman with her eyes closed and a painted crown of three flowers above her head—two yellow blooms and one pink. Her expression is serene, yet it holds a strength that’s unmistakable. This is not stillness born of silence, but the calm that arrives when we finally accept ourselves, no conditions attached.
Letting Go of Control and Letting Flow Lead
I worked with layers of paper, gesso, pigments, and acrylic inks. Instead of planning every movement, I let water guide the way. And honestly, that felt liberating. Each layer became a reflection of trust—of surrendering control and choosing to believe that beauty would unfold anyway.
That same trust eventually turned into texture, into emotion, into color. What stands out the most? Her bold red lips. That simple touch—a red lipstick—reminds us of our radiance. Even without mirrors, even with closed eyes, the glow comes from within.
A Reflection of Our Inner Fire
This artwork speaks directly to me as a woman who has lived through grief, diagnoses, fresh starts, and long pauses. But maybe, it speaks to you too. Because no matter where you are in life, you deserve to feel whole, radiant, and enough—just as you are.
Blooming doesn’t only happen in spring. Blooming is remembering, even in the middle of exhaustion, that your essence never needs permission to shine.
