Living between art and multiple sclerosis
Where Every Story Begins: The Blank Canvas
Every painting begins as a blank space, much like the stages of our lives. My artwork Stillness in Motion explores how beauty unfolds in that space… between movement and calm, between who we were and who we are becoming. Each brushstroke becomes a quiet dialogue with transformation, and every pause reminds me that silence also speaks. Moreover, that empty canvas often mirrors the uncertainty we feel before a new beginning. Yet, within that uncertainty, creativity finds its voice and courage quietly takes root.
Creating Through Layers and Surrender
When I started this piece, I worked with texture paste and collage layers. Each fragment carried moments I’ve lived through… soft, fragile, or strong. Then, I sprinkled color powders and added water. The pigments danced freely across the surface, forming shapes that I didn’t plan but chose to follow. Instead of trying to control every detail, I allowed the process to lead me. Through that surrender, I learned that growth rarely demands perfection; it invites trust. Therefore, every unpredictable splash of color became a symbol of release, acceptance, and freedom.
Discovering the Power of Stillness
As the painting evolved, my understanding of stillness deepened. I realized it isn’t the absence of movement but the calm awareness that nurtures it. Through the tulips, butterflies, and hummingbird, I discovered metaphors of change that felt profoundly human. The tulips spoke of renewal; the butterflies, of transformation; and the hummingbird, of resilience in motion. Together, they reminded me that transformation doesn’t rush, it unfolds patiently, even when we can’t see it. And, just like in life, stillness teaches us to trust that what’s growing beneath the surface will one day bloom.
Healing Through Creative Expression
Art, for me, has always been a safe space to process emotions that words can’t capture. Each color allows me to express what pain once silenced. Moreover, creativity helps me see peace where confusion once lived. Stillness in Motion became not only a painting but also a reflection of my inner landscape. It represents acceptance, courage, and the quiet beauty of becoming. In the end, stillness is not about stopping, it’s about listening deeply, trusting growth, and allowing our hearts to bloom again.
