Living between art and multiple sclerosis
For me, painting is more than a creative act, it’s an emotional release.
It’s how I process what I’m living through.
While some people write or speak, I pour it all onto the canvas.
Layers that Speak came to life during a deeply personal chapter.
I was navigating physical changes, emotional shifts, and layers of memory that kept rising.
Instead of shutting down or pretending everything was fine, I picked up a brush.
At first, I didn’t have a plan. However, I had a need to express.
Slowly, the layers emerged, some soft, some loud, some uncertain.
Rather than forcing order, I allowed presence to guide me.
The Inspiration Behind the Painting
This work was born during a season of change.
My health had shifted, and my body no longer responded the same.
Even though I felt disconnected at times, painting helped me return to myself.
I didn’t paint to escape but to witness what I was feeling.
Each line became a breath. Each color, a moment I had once buried.
That’s how Layers that Speak began: not from control, but from surrender.
Symbolism in Every Stroke
Every layer in this piece represents something real.
A wound, a memory, a step forward.
Some are textured and rough; others are fluid and calm.
There are flowers blooming through chaos, just like we do.
There are pauses between layers, reminders that growth isn’t always loud.
Even though the piece may seem abstract, every choice is intentional.
Because life is not linear, and healing isn’t tidy.
A Mirror for Other Women
Over time, women have told me: “I feel like this artwork sees me.”
That’s the greatest compliment.
Because Layers that Speak isn’t only about my story.
It creates space for others to find parts of their own.
What you see in it may be completely different from what I felt.
And that’s the point.
This piece is powerful because it reflects not just one truth but many.
Could It Be Meant for You?
You don’t have to be perfect to surround yourself with meaningful art.
You don’t need to “get it” in a logical way either.
If this painting moves something in you, let that be enough.
Maybe it’s a reminder. Maybe it’s comfort. Or maybe it’s hope.
