Living between art and multiple sclerosis
There are moments in life when we stop and realize just how far we’ve come. Not from a place of complaint, but from the deep awareness of having lived. We carry stories, wounds, joys, and triumphs; all of them layered into who we are.
Layers of Her Bloom is my way of honoring those layers. It celebrates everything I’ve lived, everything I’ve overcome, and everything that continues to shape me.
Every Stroke Honors My Journey
This piece didn’t begin with a plan, but with a feeling. I created it during a time of transition. My body was asking me to pause, to rest, and yet my soul needed to speak. So, I reached for my materials and began painting.
With each brushstroke, I allowed emotions to surface. The textures, the overlapping papers, and the intuitive layers reflect moments I couldn’t put into words. Through art, I gave shape to the invisible.
There’s Beauty in What Remains Unseen
Some of the most powerful parts of our lives remain hidden. Similarly, many layers in this artwork stay beneath the surface. However, they are still essential. They hold the quiet transformations, the private struggles, and the unspoken strength. By painting them in, I gave myself permission to remember without reliving, to release without explanation. That, too, is healing.
I Celebrate Who I Am Today
At 40, I made a conscious decision to stop chasing ideal versions of myself. Instead, I chose to honor the woman I am today, with every scar, every joy, and every lesson learned along the way.
This piece doesn’t strive for perfection. It tells the truth. Although it may look rough in places, it pulses with life and meaning. Each layer marks a decision to keep showing up for myself.
How Many Layers Live in You?
Perhaps you’re in a chapter of uncertainty, or maybe you’re finally breathing after years of holding it in. Wherever you are, know this: your story matters. Your layers, visible or not, deserve celebration. You don’t have to be polished to be powerful.
Like art, you can be raw and radiant all at once. Let this piece be a mirror. Let it remind you that blooming isn’t about looking perfect; it’s about choosing to grow, again and again.
