Layers of Her Bloom; Abstract Realism Wall Art

This mixed-media artwork in abstract realism is part of our new collection, Flourish from Within. Every layer tells a story, gradually revealing the beauty of embracing ourselves as we are.

I started by building texture with paper, gesso, and texture paste, which created a foundation rich in depth and movement. Then, I added shimmering pigment powders, activating them with water to bring out their brilliance. After that, I incorporated inks in turquoise, yellow, orange, and bronze, allowing the colors to blend organically and interact with one another. Each element plays a crucial role in shaping the final piece, making every detail feel both intentional and expressive.

At the heart of this artwork is a plus-size woman with closed eyes, her blue hair flowing with vibrant orange highlights. Surrounding her, deep blue roses symbolize strength, transformation, and inner growth. Moreover, the textured layers beneath the surface add significant depth, reinforcing the message behind this piece—we are unique and beautiful, imperfections and all.

Throughout the composition, the interplay of textures and colors creates a dynamic sense of movement and emotion. The raised areas from the underlying layers catch the light, subtly emphasizing the idea that our differences make us extraordinary. Additionally, the contrast between soft, flowing elements and bold, structured textures reflects the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience.
