Living between art and multiple sclerosis
Why I Paint: Resisting the Pressure to Change
In a world that constantly asks us to change, I found my rebellion in art.
It became my way of staying rooted in who I am.
Painting gives me space to breathe, reflect, and create without apology.
It reminds me I don’t need to become someone else to belong.
The Woman Who Simply Is
When I began painting Rooted in Radiance, I didn’t expect the piece to speak back to me.
But it did… with honesty and clarity.
The woman in this painting doesn’t ask for approval.
She simply is.

Her textured curls reflect movement and history.
Her deep brown eyes hold calm strength.
And the sunflowers behind her? They bloom with the same power she carries within.
Letting the Materials Lead Me
This piece began with paper and gesso. Then, I added acrylic inks, letting them flow freely across the canvas.
I stopped trying to control every move.
Soft pastels shaped the shadows. Later, I used acrylic paint and gel sticks to finish the woman and the sunflowers.

The process taught me this: I didn’t need to fit in, I just needed to bloom from my own roots.
The Real Message: Beauty Is Rooted in Our Stories
What makes us beautiful isn’t how we look.
It’s what we’ve lived.
Rooted in Radiance reminds me that visibility is a form of courage.
We all deserve to see ourselves in art… not as an ideal, but as we are: full, real, and enough.
