Painting to Remember Who We Are

Living between art and multiple sclerosis

Every Artwork Begins with a Quiet Question

When I painted Rooted in Radiance, I didn’t plan a perfect image. Instead, I began with a single question:
What if we stopped hiding?

In a world that constantly asks women to shrink, I chose to expand. Art became a way to return to myself.
Moreover, it offered space to feel without judgment, to explore emotion without fear.

From Paper to Presence: How Each Layer Speaks

To begin, I layered paper and gesso, grounding the surface like roots anchor us before we bloom.
Then, I poured acrylic inks across the canvas. Rather than controlling them, I let them move as they wished.
As a result, the colors flowed with a raw honesty, much like emotions we no longer hold back.

Next, I added soft pastels. These created shadows, not to conceal, but to reveal what lives beneath the surface.
Soon after, sunflowers began to grow. They stood for warmth, for resilience, and for light that refuses to dim.

Using acrylic paint and gel crayons, the woman took shape. Her curls, her full lips, and her gaze emerged.
Importantly, she didn’t ask for approval, she simply existed, rooted and radiant.

This Painting Isn’t About Perfection, It’s About Feeling

Every material served a purpose. Although the techniques weren’t traditional, they spoke with emotional depth.
Above all, texture helped me say what words couldn’t: memory, truth, and vulnerability.

Because of that, many women recognize themselves in this piece. They don’t see flaws, they see humanity.
They see compassion, presence, and a quiet kind of strength.

Art That Reflects Your Inner Light

Rooted in Radiance isn’t just a painting: it’s a mirror for those learning to embrace who they are.
Even in uncertainty, we can return to ourselves. And through art, we can soften back into our truth.

If this piece speaks to you, maybe it belongs in your life as well.
