Living between art and multiple sclerosis
The Quiet Power Behind the Piece
There are days when strength feels loud and impossible to ignore. However, most days, it arrives quietly and waits for us to notice it. Still, that quiet strength shapes how we rise, breathe, and move. A Cup of Courage was born during one of those softer days. I wanted to honor moments that seem small but hold deep emotional weight.
A Portrait Filled With Joy and Warmth
This artwork features a plus-size woman enjoying a peaceful cup of coffee. Her curls shine with vibrant life, and her smile brings calm joy. Moreover, bright flowers bloom around her, including a bold red rose and a striking yellow six-petal flower. These blooms remind her, and all of us, that personal growth never follows a strict timeline.
How Multiple Sclerosis Shapes My Art
My journey with multiple sclerosis changed the way I understand strength. MS forced me to pause, listen, and honor my limits. However, it also taught me to celebrate small victories. Because of that shift, this artwork reflects the courage I find in simple rituals. It also honors the tenderness I try to choose daily, even when life feels heavy.
Layering Messages of Self-Love
I began the piece with collage elements that whispered gentle truths. “Love yourself first” guided the first layers. Then the inks flowed and encouraged the colors to move freely. Later, the acrylics shaped her warm presence. Meanwhile, creating her helped me breathe through uncertainty and reminded me that healing rarely follows a straight line.
A Gentle Invitation to Stay Close
Today, A Cup of Courage feels like a quiet declaration of self-love. It says, “Choose yourself, even in the smallest moments.” Because of that message, this piece remains very close to my heart.
